When I click on my YouTube links I see the full YouTube web site and not just my video. What is wrong?

You have probably used the wrong form of the YouTube URL. If you used something like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3D3kFn_3xRY that will disaply the YouTube website and not just the video. To just get the video use a link that looks like http://www.youtube.com/v/3D3kFn_3xRY.

Can I selectively load Shadowbox on pages that need it?

Yes. However this functionality requires WordPress 2.8. If you are running WordPress 2.8 and you would like to enable this functionality visit ‘Settings’ -> ‘Shadowbox JS’ and set Enable Smart Loading to true.

Why isn’t this plugin working?

Check to make sure that you have <?php wp_head(); ?> in your themes header.php and <?php wp_footer(); ?> in your themes footer.php. See the default WordPress theme for examples. Also see the FAQ below.

This plugin has stopped working since I installed another plugin or another plugin has stopped working since I installed this plugin. What can I do?

Try changing the Javascript Library used by this plugin to something other than ‘None’ on the Shadowbox JS settings page in the WordPress admin.

I installed the plugin, but installation failed after pressing Complete Installation, showing me a text in a red rectangle?
Cause: Either curl / curl functions is disabled on your server or your hosting blocks API calls to the Kaltura servers.

  • Solution 1: Enable curl and it’s functions on the server (or have the hosting company enable it for you).
  • Solution 2: Remove any blocking of external calls from the server.

I can’t activate the plugin, it presents an error message after clicking Activate on the plugin list
It might be caused due to an old version of PHP. The Kaltura wp plugin is written for PHP4 and PHP5 with the use of classes and static members, these are not supported on earlier versions of PHP. Upgrade to PHP5 / later. If upgrading doesn’t solve this issue or you already have PHP5 on your server, post the error information on the forum and we’ll help you. (http://community.kaltura.org/viewforum.php?f=4). Support for PHP4 was added on version 1.0

Faq

Why doesn’t Blubrry PowerPress support multiple enclosures in one feed item/post?
Blubrry PowerPress does not allow you to include multiple media files for one feed item (blog post). This is because each podcatcher handles multiple enclosures in feeds differently. iTunes will download the first enclosure that it sees in the feed ignoring the rest. Other podcatchers and podcasting directories either pick up the first enclosure or the last in each post item. This inconsistency combined with the fact that Dave Winer does not recommend multiple enclosures and the FeedValidator.org recommendation against it is why the Blubrry PowerPress does not support them.

As a alternative, PowerPress allows you to create additional Custom Podcast Feeds to associate any magnitude of media format and/or length in a blog post to specific custom feeds. For example, you can create one blog post associated to separate video and audio podcast feeds saving you time from entering your show notes twice.

Why doesn’t Blubrry PowerPress include media statistics built-in?
Blubrry PowerPress does not include media statistics built-in. This is not because Blubrry has its own statistics service, although that’s a good reason by itself. Maintaining and calculating statistics is a resource and server intensive task that would add bloat to an otherwise efficient WordPress podcasting plugin. We recommend using your media hosting’s web statistics to give you basic download numbers and, if you are seeking more grandular measurements such as client and geographical information for each episode, you’re more than welcome to use the Blubrry Statistics service as well.

As of Blubrry PowerPress version 0.8, you may now access your Blubrry Statistics from within your WordPress dashboard.

How do you insert the player within a blog post?
You can insert the media player within yoru blog posts by using the WordPress shortcode feature. The shortcode for PowerPress is [powerpress] (all lowercase)

You may use the shortcode to add a player to other media files (non episode files) by specifying the media url in the shortcode: [powerpress url=”http://example.com/path/to/media.mp3″]

For advanced users with multiple podcast feeds, you may insert the player for a specific feed by specifying the feed slug in the shortcode: [powerpress feed=”podcast”]

If you want to specify a cover image, add an image attribute which points to the specific image url: [powerpress image=”http://example.com/path/to/cover_image.jpg”] Experimental

Why can’t you upload large media files?
File uploads are tricky to handle because there are so many web hosting variations with different upload size limits. We recommend using an FTP application to upload large media files. FTP is much more efficient than web based uploads and is typically provided by nearly all web hosting providers.

It’s not working, can you help?
Absolutely. We’re happy to help and always try to respond promptly. Send us an email at contact@riffly.com or fill out the contact form on our web site.

Why doesn’t the Flash recorder work with my Mac’s iSight webcam?
This is a problem with iSight/Flash and is not specific to Riffly’s recorder.

Riffly, will now auto-detect your iSight camera and select it for you, but just incase follow the below instructions:

Click the “Add Webcam Comment” link to bring up the Riffly recorder and then click “Allow”. Hold down the Control key and click with the mouse in the Flash recorder window. This will bring up the Flash menu, select “Settings…”. Then click on the camera tab at the bottom of that settings window. Select “USB Video Class Video” from the drop down list and it should begin to work.

You can easily add a Podcast Player widget to any of your sidebars, posts, or pages if you want to promote a specific recording to your readers.

Features

  • Podcast recording into MP3 files. WAV files used as a fallback format if errors occur.
  • Podcast organizing into playlists. Easy and intuitive administration of playlists and their contents.
  • Podcast playing: a single file or an entire playlist.
  • Sidebar widget available for podcast playing.
  • Makes adding a podcast to a post or page very simple.

  • We use XSPF Web Music Player, which is Open Source Software and can be used, modified and custom styled by anyone, including for commercial purposes.

Installation

  1. It can be configured from the Settings menu. It should be pretty straight forward.
  2. You can create playlists and recordings via the Manage -> MTR Podcast Recorder section of your WordPress administration.

Faq

How do I add a Podcast Player to a post or page?
This is true assuming that you have the MTR Podcast Recorder activated from your “Plugins” page. When creating a post or page, you will notice that there is a new button added to the built-in WordPress editor’s toolbar which will enable you to insert image placeholders of the places where a podcast player should appear when someone is reading the post or page. When you click it, you will be prompted to select a playlist and a recording (the last one is optional). Then just confirm your selection, and the placeholder of the podcast player will be inserted into the editor. Once you are over with your article, publish it and check out the resulting post/page.

How do I perform custom styling of the MTR Podcast Recorder?
One way will be to study the default CSS file located in directory of the plug-in inside the “wp-content/plugins” of your WordPress installation and modify the classes. You can achieve the same thing if you write your own CSS rules based on the classes and ID-s used in the default CSS file of the MTR Podcast Recorder and then save them in the podcast recorder settings under the “Settings” menu of the administration. These rules should overwrite any in the default CSS file.

Can I have a custom design for my blog podcasts player?
Sure, you can. The plugin uses the open source XSPF Web Music Player (http://musicplayer.sourceforge.net/), so you can download the application (all XSPF Web Music Player versions come with source FLA files and are fully editable) and create a custom skin for your blog.

How do I create a playlist?
Assuming that you are on the page with the podcast recorder, just find the button that says “Create New Playlist” and click it. A text box appears requesting for the name of the new playlist to be created. Once you enter it, click “Save” and it will be created. If you change your mind, then click “Cancel”. Note: The rules for names of playlists are the same as rules for file names on any operating system, with the exception of the SPACE character, which is converted into an underscore character.

How do I create a recording and save to it a specific playlist?
Click on the “Record” button of the podcast recorder. After you finish recording, select a playlist from the drop-down list. Then type a name for the recording in the provided text box, and click the “Save” button on the podcast recorder’s interface. Note: The rules for names of recordings are the same as rules for file names on any operating system, with the exception of the SPACE character, which is converted into an underscore character.

How do I listen to a recording from a playlist?
Well, this depends on whether you are in the administration area or just reading a post. In the admin area, just click on the “Play” button from the action buttons on the right side of each recording. If you are reading a post, then click on the “Play” button of the flash player.

How do I sort recordings in a playlist?
Sorting the recordings in a playlist is done one step at a time via the up-down arrows located in the actions section on the right side of each recording.

How do I delete a recording from a playlist?
Just like with playlists, there is a “Delete” button next to each recording, so click it, confirm your action and you are off to go.
